A part of the history of Lake Cumberland – The “Barn” first built at Hafford Bottom on the Cumberland River in Russell County. As the government made plans to build the Wolf Creek Dam that would create Lake Cumberland as we know it today, the people of the River were making plans to move. The McKinley family tore down all their buildings and moved them across the lake to Wayne County-Monticello and rebuilt all the buildings. The “Barn” was rebuilt and used as a dairy barn and later a tobacco barn. McKinley Farms is still an active grain farm.
